Dear fellow math teachers,

www.numberbender.com is officially up in the world wide web. I know some of you have been patiently waiting 'till the countdown is over. I am happy to announce that after many sleepless nights, our website is now running.

I developed www.numberbender.com while I was on my summer vacation in the Philippines. I thought it would be perfect to launch it before we start the school year. Hence, while I was enjoying the tropical sun, I was also busy creating the website in time for the first day of school (for most of us).

Students often get bore with math staff. Teacher should find out interest of students & make fun. Relaxation make it easy. There are lots of interesting & funny teaching materials in internet, can be helpful to make a good lesson plan.

For me, a Math teacher should

Be positive

When you teach math, you have to be a motivation to the students. You should feel positive towards the MATH subject, because of this, automatically it will spill over to them and enthuse them to like math as well. :)

Giving considerations that every child in our classroom learns differently (multiple intelligence theory) how can we make sure to reach out to all of our students when it comes to math.

http://weusemath.org/when/?q=resourcesforteachers/teachersforum/mathpracticeandlearningprogram%E2%80%93freeforteachers

Hi,

TenMarks has launched a math practice and learning program for grades 3 - High School and as of today, it’s FREE for teachers to use in class or for their students to use at home.

The TenMarks approach gives students a variety of problems on each topic, and ability to use hints if they need a little nudge, and immediate video lessons for them to refresh and learn the topic – on the spot. The end result – students refresh what they know and learn what they don’t.

It seems that in my school that the only way Math is taught is by the cut & dry approach of this how you do it. I often ask teachers how they could engage students in real world applications of the math they teach and many seem to struggle with finding ways.
